Mayor Sara Duterte asks Support for Tandem w/ Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Jr.

SARA DUTERTE – The vice-presidential aspirant and Davao City Mayor spoke about her tandem with former Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr. for the first time.

A few days before November 15, 2021 which was the deadline set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for substitutions, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte withdrew her candidacy for re-election. Initially, she was set to run for mayor of Davao City for the 3rd time.

Mayor Inday Sara also resigned from her regional party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago, and joined the national party, Lakas-CMD. Under it, she had two (2) options – either to substitute its vice-presidential or presidential bets.

The presidential daughter replaced the initial bet of Lakas-CMD for vice president. She also agreed to the calls of her supporters for BBM-Sara tandem in 2022.

The party of presidential aspirant and former Sen. Bongbong Marcos adopted Mayor Sara Duterte as its bet for vice president in the Election 2022. Recently, the Davao City Mayor spoke about her tandem with the former Senator for the first time.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Mayor Inday Sara confirmed the alliance of her party with the political party backing the presidential bid of former Sen. Marcos Jr. She called for support for their tandem citing her response to her supporters’ call to run for a national position.

According to the Davao City Mayor, she requested support for her tandem with Marcos Jr. to PDP-Laban, the ruling political party where her father, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, belongs but her request was rejected. The party has its own standard-bearer – Sen. Bong Go.

According to Pres. Duterte, he cannot support Marcos Jr. as his support goes for Sen. Go. He is a long-time aide of the 76-year-old Chief Executive before he became a senator and continues helping the President.
