Will Sara Duterte finally decide to run for President?
LAKAS-CMD – House Majority Leader and Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats president Ferdinand Martin Romualdez wanted Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte to run for president in the 2022 elections.
In a virtual press conference on Friday, November 12, Romualdez was asked by the press if their party is rooting the presidential daughter to run for president or vice president.
According to the solon, they will support the incumbent mayor whatever her decision but they wanted her to seek the highest position.
Among those who are seeking the highest post in the upcoming polls are former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Vice President Leni Robredo, as well as senators Manny Pacquiao, Bato dela Rosa, Ping Lacson and to name a few. An immense battle is expected among the candidates in the next few months.
Romualdez is expecting the mayor to announce her decision before the deadline on substitution or replacement of candidates on November 15 as per the Commission on Elections.
Romualdez was also asked what if he would be caught in the middle in case Mayor Sara ran for the presidency against his cousin, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
The legislator replied that Mayor Sara and Marcos are friends. In fact, “they have been communicating, they have been in dialogue.”
Romualdez is hoping that the two will come up with an alliance.
Meanwhile, it was just recently when Mayor Sara resigned from her regional party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP). Eventually, she was sworn in as a member of Lakas-CMD.
