Mayor Sara took her oath before Lakas-CMD chairman Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. and party president House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez at the Revilla Farm in Silang, Cavite at 6:00 pm Thursday.

This, after Hugpong Ng Pagbabago (HNP) Secretary-General Anthony Del Rosario announced that Mayor Sara has resigned from the regional party.

Romualdez welcomed Mayor Sara as the party’s new member, saying that her focused and strong leadership could steer the nation to greater heights.

He also believed that Mayor Sara will be a very promising leader and a tremendous asset to the party.

According to Romualdez, he’s confident that with Mayor Sara’s exceptional brand of leadership, she can help Lakas-CMD “chart a new course that will ensure a brighter tomorrow for our children and the next generation”.

I think we have to consult Mayor Sara on that,” Romualdez said when asked if Mayor Sara was expected to file her certificate of candidacy (COC) anytime soon.

Romualdez also revealed that he also invited his cousin, presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., to join Lakas-CMD. However, Bongbong, the standard-bearer of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), has ruled out the possibility of switching parties.

GMA News Online reported that Lakas member Anna Capella Velasco had filed a COC for president under Lakas-CMD, while another party member Lyle Fernando Uy filed a certificate of candidacy for vice president. This means that Mayor Sara may choose to substitute either of them if she decided to run for a national position.

Meanwhile, Revilla said he was honored to have Mayor Sara as the latest member of the party.
