PRESIDENT RODRIGO DUTERTE – Here’s what the Philippine President said about the decision of his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, to run for vice president in the 2022 elections.
In an exclusive interview with pro-Duterte vlogger Byron Cristobal, also known as Banat By, President Duterte said that he was kept in the dark about his daughter’s plans for the 2022 elections, saying that he only learned about it the moment his daughter filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for vice president.
According to the President, he wasn’t toying with the media when he said that he didn’t know that his daughter had already filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for vice president.
“Totoo na hindi ko talaga alam. Nalaman ko nung nag-file siya,” President Duterte confessed. “I think kahapon ng umaga? May ano nga, media. Doon ko nalaman tatakbo siya ng vice president. Hindi ko alam.”
The President was referring to his encounter with the media at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) office last Saturday where he was asked about his daughter’s political plans.

The President also said that he only knew that his daughter asked for two COCs from Lakas-CMD – one COC for president and one COC for vice president – but didn’t know which one she would choose. The President added that it has been a long time since he talked with Mayor Sara.
Meanwhile, the President wondered why his daughter only settled for vice president when she’s leading the surveys, raising his suspicion that presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr had something to do with Mayor Sara’s decision.
“I’m sure yung pagtakbo ni Sara desisyon nila Bongbong yun. Kaya nagtataka ako, sabi ko siya ang number one sa survey, kung bakit siya pumayag na tatakbo lang bise. Siya yung mataas ang rating, eh,” President Duterte said. “Bakit ka tatakbo ng bise presidente na alam mo mas lamang ka? Ika nga may view ka na in advance na malakas ka.”
The President has always opposed Mayor Sara to run for higher office, saying that he didn’t want her to go through what he experienced.
