Philippine Embassy in Lebanon announced that overseas Filipinos who enlisted but backed out from its free repatriation would be blacklisted.
The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon had officially announced that Filipinos who had signed up in the government’s voluntary repatriation program but failed to board their flights would be blacklisted.
This, as the Embassy said in a statement that chartered flights and commercial flights under the Free Voluntary Mass Repatriation Program of Pasuguan were funded using Filipino people’s tax.
In its statement, the Embassy cited that the expenses incurred in preparing for the flight from Lebanon to the Philippines came from the funds of the country.
The Embassy also stated that backing out or withdrawing from the flight once they had been approved and their fines had been paid and being “no-show” or not appearing on the day of the flight was a huge waste of public funds.
Moreover, the Embassy mentioned that those who backed out or those who didn’t show up at their scheduled flights would be blacklisted and would no longer be included in the next Pasuguan flights.

The Department of Foreign Affairs brought home 386 Filipinos from Lebanon last August 17, following the deadly blast in Beirut earlier this month.
The agency earlier said that there were some 31,000 Filipinos in Lebanon.
It said that it had been offering free repatriation even before the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic struck in order to arrest the “worsening condition” of Filipinos in the country due to economic woes.
