Here’s the response of Chito Miranda on “sayang naman yung 8M” comment over fundraising for Parokya ni Edgar guitarist
CHITO MIRANDA – The Parokya ni Edgar frontman responded to the “sayang naman yung 8M” comment on fundraising campaign for bandmate Gab Chee Kee.
On Monday, February 20, 2023, Chito gave an update about selling the memorabilia (props) they used in their music videos. Many netizens were pleased with Chito’s effort to help his bandmate. But one netizen caught his attention because of the latter’s offensive/insensitive comment.
In a comment, a netizen cited that the money raised for the treatment of Gab is “sayang”, thus, should be given to his family instead. “sayang naman 8M sana iwan nalang sa pamilya ……… sorry just my opinion kung ako nasa kalagayan nya tatanggihan ko na yung tulong nila ibigay nalang sa mas nangangailangan… I know you want to save life pero let it be sabi nga ng Beatles,” the netizen commented.
Chito Miranda immediately reacted to the netizen. According to him, it’s not “sayang” because the life of his bandmate is “worth it”. He also told the netizen that the comment may come as offensive or insensitive.
The Parokya ni Edgar vocalist said: “ang sama kasi nung dating na ‘sayang naman yung 8M’ as if hindi worth yung buhay ng kabanda namin…kung sa kalagayan mo ihahambing, dun ka sa page mo mag-post or sa sarili mo nalang kasi it may come as offensive or insensitive sa iba, lalo na sa amin.”
Meanwhile, Gab Chee Kee, the guitarist of Parokya ni Edgar, has been at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after being diagnosed with lymphoma (cancer affecting the lymphatic system). They are in need of huge amount of money for his medical needs.
