MTRCB urged by netizens to “ban” showing of Martyr or Murderer on Philippine theaters

MTRCB – Some netizens urged the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board to ban the showing of Darryl Yap’s movie “Martyr or Murderer”.

Martyr or Murderer is a 2023 movie written and directed by Darryl Yap. It is produced by VinCentiments and Viva Films.

The film which is sequel of Maid in Malacañang (2022) explores the assassination of Ninoy Aquino on August 21, 1983, three years before the events of MiM, and how the Marcoses were accused of as those responsible for killing him.

MoM stars with Cesar Montano as Ferdinand Marcos, Marco Gumabao as young Ferdinand Marcos, Cristine Reyes as Imee Marcos, Eula Valdez as present-day Imee Marcos, Diego Loyzaga as Bongbong Marcos, Ella Cruz as Irene Marcos, Ruffa Gutierrez as Imelda Marcos, Cindy Miranda as young Imelda Marcos, Isko Moreno as Ninoy Aquino, Jerome Ponce as young Ninoy Aquino, Giselle Sanchez as Corazon Aquino and to name a few.

The movie is expected to be released this year. But some netizens urged MTRCB to ban the screening of Darryl Yap’s movie in Philippine theaters.

Recently, Facebook page “Lalaban Tayo” posted an announcement of MTRCB’s plan to ban the showing of Gerard Butler’s movie “Plane.” It was accompanied by a comment of a netizen: “Samantalang ‘yung puro pelikula ni Darryl Yap na puro kasinungalingan ayaw i-ban.”

The post earned mixed reactions from the netizens. Apparently, MTRCB has yet to issue any statement on the matter.
