Barker shot by taxi driver
BARKER VS TAXI DRIVER – A barker sustained an injury on his left shoulder after he was shot by a taxi driver in Barangay Marilag, Quezon City on Monday afternoon, February 20, 2023.
The shooting incident was captured on CCTV. In the first part of the video, the victim can be seen approaching the taxi. The victim then left and returned with a dustpan, which he is about to throw at the taxi.
The CCTV apparently did not capture the exact shooting incident. Later, the victim was seen walking away from the taxi while holding his shoulder before collapsing. The taxi driver sped away as if nothing had happened. The victim was identified as Apollo Vega, 53.
According to Police Lt. Col. Leoben Ong, Chief of QCPD Station 8, the taxi driver was pissed off after the barker asked P5 payment for calling on passengers to board his taxi.
“Barker bale yung nabaril ngayon kumuha siya ng pasahero, sumakay dun sa taxi, hiningian niya ngayon ng limang piso, sabi nung taxi driver huwag kang makulit babarilin kita, ngayon pumunta siya kumuha ng dustpan akmang papaluin niya yung taxi binaril nga siya noong taxi driver,” said Ong.
Aside from Vega, a 13-year-old girl was also injured in the shooting. Fortunately, she only sustained a minor injury and was released from the hospital. Vega, on the other hand, is now in a stable condition.
Andrew Cuizon, the barangay chairman of Milagrosa, said the victim has no permanent residence. Meanwhile, the QCPD is conducting a follow up operation after the license plate and markings of the taxi were caught on CCTV.
