Two kids accumulated an injury over a shooting incident that took place at a beach resort in Masbate on Sunday, December 27.

According to Bicol police spokesperson Police Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, a 14-year-old girl and the nine-year-old son of the caretaker of the beach resort were wounded in an attack launched by two riding in tandem gunmen at the gate of a beach resort in Barangay Canvañes in Batuan, Masbate at around 7:47 p.m.

Based on the initial investigation, four men on board two motorcycles were suspected to have launched the attack.

Two men allegedly open fired using an unknown caliber handgun at the Zandra’s Beach Resort hitting the two kids who were playing basketball inside the compound at the time.

The girl was hit on the feet while the boy was hit on his stomach.

The report via Inquirer.net noted that the kids are now in stable condition after being taken to a nearby hospital for treatment over gunshot wounds.

It added that the resort is allegedly owned by Sandra Cam, one of the board of directors of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

Meanwhile, the authorities are still conducting an investigation regarding the incident and they are looking for the possibility of politics as one of the reasons behind the apparent attack.
