Earlier, the chief executive lambasted the chairman and CEO of the Philippine Red Cross on national TV over the investigation of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee into the alleged anomalies in procurement of COVID-19 supplies.

The president condemned the senator, fat-shamed him, and even call him a “despot.”

But in a statement during a congressional probe that took place on the anniversary of martial law declaration, Gordon couldn’t hold back but criticize Duterte.

He even called the country’s highest leader a “bully” for taking things personally. While calling the president “boring,” he stressed that he’s not afraid of the chief executive.

Then, Gordon urged Duterte to do his job as the president instead of protecting Chinese businessmen who are under investigation.

Earlier this month, Duterte started to verbally assault Gordon and other senators after the Senate found out that Michael Yang, his former Presidential Economic Adviser lied under oath.

Initially, Yang claimed that he had nothing to do with the controversial Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp. But officials of the said firm revealed that they borrowed money from Yang.

The investigation has been called after the Commission on Audit (COA) flagged the Department of Health (DOH) for the transfer of P42 billion funds to the Procurement Service of the Department of Budget and Management for the procurement of face masks and face shields last year onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pharmally, a 2-year-old company, allegedly secured more than P8 billion worth of government contracts for the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPEs).
