Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto Denies Permit for Leni Robredo Campaign Rally On March 20
VICO SOTTO – Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said there would be no campaign rally for Vice President Leni Robredo at the city hall quadrangle.
Politicians have been very busy campaigning for the May 2022 elections. On March 11, VP Leni Robredo’s organizers claimed that the Leni-Kiko tandem gathered more than 70,000 people in Paglaum Stadium in Bacolod City.
It is the largest rally since the start of the campaign period. Leni was accompanied by her running mate Senator Kiko Pangilinan and his wife Megastar Sharon Cuneta.
Among the artists and actors who are present during the Leni-Kiko campaign rally are Edu Manzano, Agot Isidro, Joel Torre, Nikki Valdez, Ronnie Lazaro, and Ogie Diaz. Singers Kuh Ledesma and Kyla also performed for the tandem.
Last week, Leni’s so-called “Payaning sa Pasig” also went viral. Her team was planning to have a campaign rally at the Pasig City quadrangle on March 20. However, Mayor Vico Sotto denied it saying the area is “not open for any political rally.”

Vico Sotto denied that Leni’s campaign rally would push through later this month. “Not true. Pasig City Hall premises, including quadrangle, are NOT open for any political rally,” he said in a Tweet.
“Kahit mayor ang mag-apply, di bibigyan ng permit,” he added.
Mayor Vico said campaign organizers have been advised to hold their campaign events in open streets or plazas. “We told those applying for a permit, try the plazas/open streets. They are the biggest spaces available, and open to all candidates,” he added.
In Dec. 2021, Mayor Vico issued a memorandum of agreement prohibiting campaign materials posted on city-owned properties and public places. The policy covered all political candidates including ‘Giting ng Pasig,’ his team for 2022 polls.
