Mother’s Final Letter Tattooed on Son’s Body
A young man from Bacoor City, Cavite chose his late mother’s final letter to be his first tattoo before she passed away from cancer in 2010.
A tattoo is a permanent mark or design made on the skin with ink and needles. People get tattoos for various reasons, including self-expression, cultural significance, commemoration of important events or people, and personal aesthetics.
Tattoos can be small or large, simple or intricate, and they can be located on any part of the body. The process of getting a tattoo involves a tattoo artist using a needle to inject ink into the skin’s dermis layer, creating the desired design.
It’s important to carefully consider getting a tattoo, as it is a lifelong commitment that requires proper care and maintenance.
On Facebook, tattoo artist Alexis Serdeña of Serdeña Tattoo Studio shared a photo of his work on Vincent John Tuibeo, 24, featuring his mother’s last words written while she was in the hospital.
“Masarap sa pakiramdam ng isang tattoo artist yung maging part ka ng storya ng tattoo ng client, salamat po sa tiwala,” Serdeña said.
Serdeña mentioned that this was the first time he tattooed such a meaningful message. He expressed that he deeply felt the touching message from Tuibeo’s mother as he completed the tattoo.
Tuibeo revealed that his mother, Joyann, wrote the letter while in the hospital to express her love and appreciation for her children. At that time, Tuibeo shared, his siblings couldn’t regularly visit their mother because they were underage, and the hospital was far from their home.

Joyann passed away a few weeks later at the age of 37 in 2010. The tattoo of his mother’s letter on Tuibeo’s body isn’t just ink on skin but a constant reminder of a mother’s love and value, even after she’s gone.
