Fresh Fish Taped on ATMs by a Teenager

FISH BANDIT – A teenager was arrested by the authorities for sticking fresh fish to automated teller machine (ATM) screens.

Several netizens have made witty comments about a report regarding the arrest of a teenager due to an unusual crime. The minor was caught sticking fresh fish to automated teller machine (ATM) screens using tape. These incidents have garnered attention through the Instagram account @fish_bandit84, which has rapidly gained followers, reaching over 100,000 from 54,000 just two weeks ago.

The Provo Police Department in Utah reported approximately 13 incidents of fish being taped to ATMs and other locations, all attributed to the 17-year-old teenager. The police were able to link these incidents to the individual, who now faces two cases of property damage under Juvenile Justice and Youth Services.

Apart from ATMs, the posted photos on the Instagram account show three fresh fish taped to a police car. It remains unclear if the arrested teenager is the owner of the Instagram account, which began posting in August 2023, with the latest post dated December 21, 2023.

Interestingly, similar incidents have occurred not only in the United States but also in various countries. The Instagram account documents the same prank being pulled off in Tokyo, Japan; Frankfurt, Germany; Guatemala City, Guatemala; and Phoenix, Arizona.

The reports do not provide information on the motive behind the teenager’s actions. Different types of fish were used in the incidents, including trout, bluegill, bass, catfish, carp, and crappie.

While the police did not disclose the reason behind the fish-taping incidents, they stated that the case was resolved in December 2023 and was progressing. The police have chosen not to comment further on the matter.
