Netizens criticize JV Ejercito over his remarks abot the new hosts of Eat Bulaga
JV EJERCITO – The senator faced backlash and criticism for his remarks about the new hosts of the noontime show, Eat Bulaga!
On June 5, 2023, the show introduced the new hosts, including Paolo Contis, Betong Sumaya, Buboy Villar, Mavy and Cassy Legaspi, Alexa Miro, and the singing group XOXO. This was after the departure of the former hosts, particularly the iconic TVJ (Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon) trio.
Senator JV’s tweet stating that it was challenging to compare the new hosts with the previous ones received negative reactions from netizens. They found his words hurtful, especially to aspiring individuals trying to establish themselves in the entertainment industry. Some criticized the senator for his remarks, considering them unbecoming of a senator and pointing out the contradiction between his self-proclaimed image of being “the good one” and his actions.
Realizing the impact of his words, Senator JV attempted to make amends in a subsequent tweet, stating that the new hosts should not be bashed as it is their livelihood. However, the damage had already been done, and he faced criticism for his initial opinion.
Critics accused him of dragging down fellow Filipino artists and questioned his suitability as a senator. Some labeled him as hypocritical, pointing out that he had initiated the bashing in the first place. Meanwhile, some loyal viewers of Eat Bulaga! supported Senator JV and joined him in criticizing the new hosts of the show.
At press time, TVJ have found their new home. They recently signed a contract with Mediaquest Holdings, which owns and operates the TV5 Network.
