Reaction of Maja Salvador when Joey de Leon joke about “prangkisa”
MAJA SALVADOR – Some netizens noticed that the former Kapamilya star did not laugh when Joey de Leon joke about “prangkisa” or franchise.
During the Bawal Judgmental segment of Eat Bulaga, trans beauty queen Michelle was talking about the historical franchise of Miss International Queen. At one point, Joey de Leon jokingly said: “Buti pa kayo may prangkisa.”
But some netizens noticed that Maja Salvador, a former ABS-CBN talent, who’s also one of the hosts of the longest noontime variety show, didn’t laugh at the joke of de Leon. Among those who reacted were Kapamilya fans, who claimed that Joey de Leon might be referring to the failed franchise renewal of ABS-CBN.
A part of the video was posted on Twitter, earning reactions from the netizens. One netizen commented: “Kapamilya by heart pa rin tlg si Maja kht Dabarkads n siya sa EB. Di siya nkkitawa sa mga gnyang issue.” Another netizen wrote: “To think na andyan pa si Maja sa segment na yan. Napaka insensitive ng hukluban na yan.”
Meanwhile, it was on May 5, 2020, National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and Solicitor General Jose Calida issued a cease-and-desist order to ABS-CBN. On July 10, 2020, members of the House of Representatives, particularly the Committee on Legislative Franchises, voted 70–11 to deny the franchise application of ABS-CBN, citing several issues with the network’s franchise.
Following the closure of the Kapamilya Network, a lot of ABS-CBN employees lost their jobs. While some of their homegrown talents decided to transfer to other networks, others chose to stay. At present, ABS-CBN airs via blocktimer and online.
