Joseph Victor Gomez Ejercito served as a senator from 2013 to 2019. Prior to that, he served as the representative of San Juan from 2010 to 2013 and was the city’s mayor from 2001 to 2010. JV is the son of former Philippine president Joseph “Erap” Estrada. He’s also the half-brother of former senator Jinggoy Estrada.

It was just recently when he went to the microblogging site, Twitter wherein he said that Jose Rizal University (JRU) forward John Amores should be banned from any basketball league. This was after the rampage of the latter during a game versus the College of Saint Benilde.

According to Sen. JV Ejercito, Amores should no longer be allowed to play in any basketball league. Ejercito suggests that Amores should join boxing or UFC instead.

A lot has reacted to his post. A Twitter user with handle name @kotzallen_ wrote: “Sana ma-ban din ang mga pulitikong may kaso. What they did “is a bad impression on our youth.”

To which he replied: “Why not?” Another netizen commented: “Can we start with your bro?” He replied: “Malinis po ang aking public service record. Research.”

Meanwhile, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has slapped an indefinite suspension on Amores following the incident. He committed numerous offenses such as pointing a finger at a referee, disrespecting the ManCom representative and court officials, charging toward the CSB bench, which sparked a brawl, making provocative gestures that sparked a fight, and punching four CSB players.
