What Elizabeth Oropesa had gone through in the past for being a Marcos loyalist?
ELIZABETH OROPESA – The award-winning actress shared for the first time her tragic experience because of her loyalty to the Marcos family.
In an interview with DZRH News, Oropesa, a supporter of the Marcos family for 36 years, shared her cruel experience at the hands of those who hate the former president.
According to her, there were loyalists who also experienced suffering due to the political unrest in the country that was not written in history.
“I was there before, during and after (people power),” she began. “Ako po ay dinukot, ngayon ko lang po ‘yan babanggitin, of course walang kinalaman ito sa Malacañang dahil nasa labas kami.”
Oropesa shared she was joining rallies back then together with her showbiz colleagues; Alona Alegre and Rio Diaz, both are also loyalists.
The rally of the Marcos loyalists happened after the former president was ousted from Malacañang.
“Wala pong nakaalam niyan na ni-blade ‘yung paa ko ngayon ko lang po nasabi sa tao kasi nagkaroon po ako ng pagkakataon,” she said.
“Pagkatapos ng rally (ng mga pro-Marcos) biglang may dumampot sakin, sinugatan niya ‘yung paa ko,” she added.
Elizabeth Oropesa said she knew who was behind her kidnapping.
“Itinali ako sa silya tapos ni-blade ‘yung paa ko, ang sabi sakin ‘wag ka ng magra-rally kung gusto mo pang humaba ang buhay mo’, tapos non iniwan nila ako sa Antipolo,” she said.
Even now, the wound left by the said group can still be seen on Oropesa’s sole.
She also said that even the Marcos family did not know what happened to her then, that’s why she seemed emotional in some of her scenes on Maid in Malacañang.
