Kyline Alcantara on Staying Single: ‘I Just Got Hurt So Much’

The actress says she is not dating or entertaining anyone, a year after her split from basketball player Kobe Paras

KYLINE ALCANTARA – The actress made it clear that romance is on hold for now, saying in an interview published on Monday, November 2, 2026, that she has chosen to stay single because past heartbreaks left her exhausted with dating.

The 24-year-old star opened up about her love life after attending the star-studded Opulence Ball, themed “The New Nocturnals,” on October 29. It has been about a year since she and basketball player Kobe Paras called it quits after less than a year of dating.

Asked if keeping her personal life private was intentional, Kyline admitted it was, but said there is simply nothing to hide at the moment.

“Well, you can say that it’s a conscious effort on my part. But honestly, I’m not dating anybody right now. I’m not even entertaining anybody,” she said.

“I guess, maybe I’m too young to say this, but I just got so tired of the whole cycle of you know, getting to know someone and blah, blah, blah. I just got hurt so much, and that’s why I don’t want to date for now,” the actress added.

Kyline said she never felt boxed in when she was in a relationship, but she is enjoying one perk of being unattached: not having to ask anyone for permission.

“Oh I will always have freedom. Siguro, I love the extra freedom, I guess. I will always have freedom but mas iba pag single kasi hindi mo kailangan magpaalam and all that,” she shared. She has not set a timeline for when she might open her heart again.

Her stand has stayed the same all year. In an interview with Boy Abunda earlier in 2026, Kyline said she was not ready to love again and was focused on moving on.

“Kasi parang medyo natatakot na din ako masaktan ulit eh and masaktan din yung family ko,” she said at the time, explaining that she was afraid of getting hurt again and of her family getting hurt too. She added that she falls in love easily because she feels she has “too much love to give,” which she now pours into her friends and family.

At the Halloween-themed ball, the actress turned heads with a modern take on the robot from Fritz Lang’s 1927 silent film Metropolis.

“This is from a film from 1927 called Metropolis and my character’s name is Robot Maria. I chose this because it’s a landmark for a film. It’s almost like a century ago kaya ko siya pinili,” Kyline explained. “I love dressing up and getting out of the box, thinking out of the box, and just dressing up. I really love playing characters.”

For now, the actress is looking ahead to more projects before the year ends, and her heart, by her own account, is still healing at its own pace.
