President Duterte condoled with Senator Grace Poe at her mother’s wake.
PRESIDENT RODRIGO DUTERTE — On Wednesday night, the outgoing President visited the wake of the late Queen of Philippine Movies, veteran actress Susan Roces.
The President went to Heritage Park with Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go and was welcomed by Susan Roces’ daughter, Senator Grace Poe.
The erstwhile political opponents — Grace Poe was 3rd in the presidential race that elected Rodrigo Duterte in 2016 — were seen conversing for several minutes, during which she also introduced the President to members of her family.
It was the last night of Susan Roces’ wake as her interment at the Manila North Cemetery had been scheduled on Thursday, May 26, 2022.

On Facebook, the senator thanked the President for attending the wake of her mother.
“Pinahahalagahan ng aming pamilya ang kabutihang loob na magbigay-pugay sa aking ina ang Pangulo ng ating bansa. Maraming salamat, PRRD,” the senator said.
Before going to the wake, the President was in Malacañang for the ceremonial receiving of the credentials of the ambassadors from Argentina, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Greece.
The President was unable, though, to attend the proclamation of his daughter, Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio, at the Batasang Pambansa Complex even though he had endorsed the candidacy of his daughter.

The night prior, President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. and his wife Liza also visited the wake of Susan Roces.
“Pasasalamat sa paglalaan ng inyong mahalagang panahon para magbigay-galang sa alaala ng aking ina at sa inyong pakikidalamhati sa aming pamilya sa panahong ito ng aming pagluluksa,” the senator said.
