Enrile was a protégé of former President Ferdinand Marcos and served as Justice Secretary and Defense Minister during the Marcos administration.

Enrile and then General Fidel Ramos, along with several other military officers, withdrew their support for Marcos in February 1986. This was one of the key moments of the 1986 People Power Revolution which drove Marcos out of power and into exile.

Enrile has continued to be a prominent politician since then; he was the Senate President from November 2008 until his resignation on June 5, 2013.

Meanwhile, Juan Ponce Enrile revealed in a Facebook comment that he was hospitalized for eight (8) days due to “severe pneumonia.”

In a comment to blogger MJ Quiambao Reyes, Enrile said that he suffered from “severe pneumonia” and fortunately he has been saved thanks to a high dosage of antibiotics.

He’s still recuperating after losing a lot of weight.

Reyes, on the other hand, shared the statement of Enrile asking for prayers.

Some netizens extended their prayers to Enrile, 98, for his fast recovery.

Juan Ponce Enrile is now a staunch supporter of incoming President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr.

In fact, he even volunteered to become the lawyer of BBM in talks about the 203-B pesos estate tax of the Marcos family.

According to Enrile, he was just paying forward the kindness shown to him by BBM’s father.
