Mayor Isko Moreno Calls for Withdrawal of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo in 2022 Presidential Election
LENI ROBREDO – The Vice President was asked of her side following the tirades of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno against her.
The statement of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno calling for the withdrawal of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo drew flak on socila media. He made the call during a press con held at the Manila Peninsula Hotel on Easter Sunday.
Moreno was with two (2) other presidential candidates, Senator Ping Lacson and former defense secretary Norberto Gonzales, when he made the remark at the press con. Both presidential bets distanced themselves from the call of the Manila Mayor.
Gonzales even apologized to the Vice President over what happened at the press con. The other candidates who were at the press con stressed that the event was to affirm that they are not backing out from the election.
The statement of Mayor Isko Moreno gathered negative reactions from the netizens most especially from the supporters of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo. At the sidelines of her grand rally in Cebu, the Vice President was also asked about her side regarding the remarks of the Manila Mayor.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Vice Pres. Robredo expressed that she will not clap back at Mayor Isko stressing that it is not just an ordinary fight between them but a fight for the country. She expressed that there is a much bigger fight that must be won.
“Hindi ko siya papatulan. Dahil hindi naman ito simpleng laban lang naming dalawa. ‘Yung laban ito ng bayan natin, may mas malaking laban na kailangan nating panalunin,” the Vice President said.
Robredo further said that the upcoming poll is an extraordinary election which is not a contest among candidates but the one that will determine the kind of government and leadership in the country in the next 6 years thus she is encouraging everyone to join in the fight for the country.
