Erwin Tulfo Moves to Sue Accusers Over Bribery Allegations
ERWIN TULFO – The senator has announced plans to file legal charges against individuals claiming to be former Marines who accused him and several other lawmakers of receiving suitcases allegedly filled with money. He said the accusations are politically motivated and not based on truth.
In a media interview, Tulfo said he was not offended by the claims and even found them amusing. He described the accusations as made-up stories and said he simply laughed after hearing them. However, he stressed that the issue should not be ignored, and legal action is being prepared against those responsible for spreading the claims.
Tulfo also challenged his accusers to present proof before the proper legal authority, suggesting that they bring their allegations before the Office of the Ombudsman if they truly believe them.

The issue arose after a Senate-related gathering where individuals who identified themselves as former Marines made the accusations during a public event connected to the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee. Tulfo, however, rejected the legitimacy of the event, saying it was not an official Senate hearing but only a meeting or press briefing. He pointed out that it was not recorded in official Senate records, had no authorized committee staff present, and did not follow proper Senate procedures.
He also said a separate official hearing has been set, where the individuals making the accusations will be required to undergo vetting before they are allowed to testify, in accordance with committee rules.

Tulfo believes the accusations are politically linked. He said some political groups may be targeting him and his colleagues because they are seen as strong potential candidates in future elections. He added that earlier accusations against other senators were no longer mentioned, which he believes shows a shifting political agenda.
He also said the attacks may be connected to survey results and discussions about possible future political plans involving him and his brother. According to him, this is why he and others continue to be targeted by the same group. Despite the issue, Tulfo said he will continue to take legal steps to clear his name and hold those responsible accountable.
