The former spokesperson of the National Task Force in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) will run for president in the coming elections.

Earlier, the presidential aspirant filed his Certificate of Candidacy as standard bearer of Katipunan ng Demokratikong Pilipino (KDP) party.

He will go against presidential candidates such as Vice President Leni Robredo, former senator Bongbong Marcos, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and senators Manny Pacquiao, Ping Lacson as well as Bong Go.

“Let me clarify I am not a politician, I am a soldier… With this circus that’s happening now, wala akong nakikita na may magandang pag-asa ang bayan,” he said in an interview.

Parlade said that one of the things that motivated him to run for the highest position in the country was the recent cut on the 2022 budget of NTF-ELCAC.

In his interview, Parlade mentioned Vice President Leni Robredo- who has been vocal in pushing the abolishment of the government’s anti-insurgency task force.

In the said interview, he also claimed that President Rodrigo Duterte is being controlled by Sen. Bong Go.

“I cannot align with SBG, I’m sorry. But kasama siya sa problema ng bayan natin… I just don’t like the way he does things, including controlling the decisions of the president,” he said.

After retiring from the military and resigning from his post as NTF-ELCAC spokesperson, he was appointed as deputy director-general of the National Security Council.

Parlade has received media attention numerous times throughout his career.

One of which is when he was accused of “red-tagging” a number of high-profile celebrities, such as Angel Locsin, Liza Soberano, and Catriona Gray by associating their advocacy with the New People’s Army.
