It was on Thursday, November 18 when the president claimed at a meeting with a regional anti-communist task force in Oriental Mindoro regarding an aspirant who’s allegedly using the illegal drug.

According to him, the candidate is a “very weak leader” who derives his political influence from his father.

He said: “Ang character niya, except for the name, pero ang tatay, pero siya, ano ang ginawa niya?”

Among the presidential candidates; Vice President Leni Robredo, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Senators Manny Pacquiao, Ping Lacson and Bong Go, only former Senator Bongbong Marcos has a famous father.

Currently, Marcos Jr. is leading the race based on the survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations.

But when his camp was asked about the matter, spokesperson Vic Rodriguez said that they “don’t feel alluded to.”

Duterte’s remark earned reactions and among those who commented is none other than, showbiz veteran Lolit Solis.

Meanwhile, talks about mandatory drug testing among aspirants are still on.

Among those who earlier expressed their willingness to undergo drug testing before the election proper are Robredo, Moreno, and Pacquiao.

Unfortunately, it might not push through.

It was in 2008 when the Supreme Court declared the provision in the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 mandating drug testing to all candidates for public office, as unconstitutional.
