The Voice USA champion says his coach helped curate the songs, while Martin Nievera wrote the script for his sold-out Nov. 7 show
MANILA (November 5, 2026) – “The Voice USA” Season 26 champion Sofronio Vasquez is counting his blessings ahead of his first major solo concert, and at the top of his thank-you list is his former coach, Michael Bublé.
At a press conference for “Sofronio Vasquez: Live in Concert,” set for Saturday, November 7, at the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell, Makati, the singer revealed that the Canadian crooner personally helped shape the show.

“Voluntarily, meron siyang ginawa na contribution na curation of the songs, specific genres. Tinulungan niya ako how to pick the right song, how to pick the ballads kung ano yung opening, ano yung mid-song,” Vasquez said.
He shared that the two have stayed close since the 2024 competition, and that Bublé still calls him for updates. “I have the perfect relationship with him,” he said, adding with a laugh that the singer is still not used to being called “sir.” “Nirereplyan nya ako ng, ‘How are you, sir?'”
Help from OPM icons
Vasquez said local legends also stepped in. Martin Nievera, who will be abroad on the night of the show, offered to write the concert script instead. Ogie Alcasid, Bituin Escalante, Jona and Jed Madela are guests, while National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab will accompany him for a special number.
“I love being part of this community, tulungan,” Vasquez told reporters.
The 33-year-old from Misamis Occidental said tickets sold out within about two weeks, something he does not take lightly. “Sobrang hirap ng buhay ngayon, sobrang hirap i-pressure yung mga tao na magbayad ng ganito so I am just lucky na sa November 7 mapupuno ko ang isang venue,” he said.
Looking back on years of rejection before his big break, he added: “I always value yung mga times when I was faced with those ‘Nos’ because now having ‘Yeses’ sometimes parang bonus nalang.”
He also admitted he would love to try theater. “Actually, I told Sir Ogie that I wanna audition for Kailangan Kita,” he said of Alcasid’s upcoming musical, adding, “I’m willing to do everything.”
