Liloan Mayor Christa Frasco, who is also Sara’s spokesperson, said that the latter has no intention to become the standard-bearer of PDP-Laban citing she’s not a member of the political party.

It was on Saturday, October 2 when Sara filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) as she seeks re-election as mayor of Davao City.

After she filed her candidacy, her father- President Duterte announced his retirement from politics.

At the time, Senator Bong Go, a longtime aide of Duterte also filed his candidacy for vice-president under PDP-Laban.

But prior to that, Duterte has been outspoken about his possible plans to run for VP while Bong Go was originally nominated as president of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan.

Despite filing her candidacy as mayor of Davao City, “observers” have cast doubt over the finality of her decision to run for mayor.

It would be recalled that it was in 2015 when President Duterte filed his candidacy for mayor but apparently withdraw.

Instead, his daughter ran and ended up winning the post while he vied for the highest position in the government and eventually won.

According to Rappler.com, there were speculations that Sara could change her candidacy. It noted that it’s backed by the ruling party and no less than her father.

Meanwhile, the filing of COC kicked off on Friday, October 1 and it will end on October 8.

The Commission on Elections will post a tentative list of candidates on October 29.

On the other hand, the campaign period for nationally-elected positions will kick off on February 8, 2022, until May 7, 2022, while for locally-elected positions, it will start on March 25 until May 7, 2022. The nationwide elections are scheduled to be held on May 9.
