Food processing companies are among the leading businesses in the country today. From canned goods to meat products sealed in containers, almost every Filipino family consumes processed foods.

One of the well-known food processing companies in the Philippines is Century Pacific Food Inc. a wholly-owned subsidiary of Century Pacific Group, Inc. which is based in Pasig City.

It was founded on December 12, 1978, by Ricardo Po Sr. It is originally known as Century Canning Corporation.

The Company is primarily engaged in the business of buying and selling, processing, canning, packaging, and manufacturing all kinds of food and food products.

It is behind popular brands such as Century Tuna, 555, Blue Bay, Fresca, Lucky Seven, Argentina, Swift, Shanghai, Wow, Angel, Birch Tree, Kaffe de Oro, and Home Pride.

But on Tuesday, October 12, the food company announced the passing of its founder and chairman emeritus, Ricardo S. Po Sr.

The food processing company made the announcement through a regulatory filing. It is indicated that his post as chairman emeritus has been vacated effectively on October 11 due to his passing.

However, the company has yet to release further details regarding his death.

Meanwhile, Century Pacific was also included in Forbes Asia’s Best Under A Billion 2021 List. It is one of the publicly traded companies in the Asia-Pacific region with annual revenue of at least $10 million to below $1 billion.

According to Forbes, Century Pacific has $1.8 billion in market capitalization and $974 million in sales.
