In a text message, the actress-turned-politician showed support to Moreno in his presidential bid.

According to her, she saw Isko’s “focus and sincerity as a leader” amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Wednesday, September 22, Isko Moreno, a former actor-turned-politician formally announced his candidacy for the 2022 presidential elections. It was held at the Baseco Compound in Tondo, Manila.

He will run for the highest position in the country alongside his running mate Dr. Willie Ong.

In his speech that lasted for thirty (30) minutes, he chides at the administration particularly its response to the pandemic.

He also outlined his difference from those seeking to run for higher positions in the government.

At the end of his presidential campaign launch speech, Isko revealed the reason for choosing Dr. Willie Ong as his vice president.

Isko also said that Manila City Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, who is also a doctor, will run as mayor of their city in the May 9, 2022 elections.

However, Lacuna is yet to make an official announcement.

Meanwhile, aside from Isko, among those who recently announced their presidential bid are Senators Manny Pacquiao and Ping Lacson.

The filing of certificates of candidacies will be from October 1 up to October 8, 2021, while the campaign period for nationally-elected positions will kick off on February 8, 2022, until May 7, 2022.
