President Duterte will still get his second dose of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine.

Despite the President’s request to China to pull out the said brand from the Philippines, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that President Duterte will still be able to receive his second dose of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine.

On Thursday, Roque said in his regular press briefing that Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines would be sent back to China but the President’s second dose would be secured.

Siyempre, hindi ibabalik yung pang-second dose ni Presidente, para matapos niya ang second dose niya. Tatapusin po natin yung second dose,” Roque said.

Roque made the statement after President Duterte ordered the withdrawal of some 1,000 doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine from the Philippines on Wednesday because they haven’t been granted an emergency use authorization (EUA) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

On the evening of May 3, President Duterte was inoculated against COVID-19 using the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine after getting clearance from his doctor.

However, the President was criticized because Sinopharm was yet to receive an EUA from the Food and Drug Administration.
