Here’s the stance of Senator-elect Raffy Tulfo on giving “ayuda” to the middle class
RAFFY TULFO – The incoming senator is not in favor of giving “ayuda” or aid to the middle class.
Tulfo is considered one of the most popular broadcast journalists in the country.
He became known as the “Hari ng public service” because of his program “Wanted sa Radyo.”
He’s also famous on the video-sharing platform, YouTube thanks to his channel, “Raffy Tulfo in Action” which has over 23 million subscribers.
In the previous election, he landed the third senatorial spot with more than 23 million votes. He is expected to lead the Senate committee on labor.
In a statement, Tulfo said that he’s not in favor of giving aid to the “middle class.”
According to Tulfo, the middle class can still handle the impact of inflation since their salaries are higher compared to the minimum wage earners.
He added that the government should target giving aid to those who are living in the poverty line.
“Huwag yung (Not the) middle class. Middle class can take care of themselves, I’m sure. Ikaw middle class ka, ako middle class, we can take care of ourselves. So we don’t need help from the government,” he said.
Tulfo made the statement following the proposed rice subsidies for poor to middle-income households.
As of press time, the price of basic commodities and fuel continue to spike.
The increase can be attributed to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
