Pacquiao: “Matalo tayo kung matalo, pero ayoko namang manalo dahil sa negosasyon”
MANNY PACQUIAO – The incumbent senator and presidential candidate declined the “unity” offered by the camp of Vice President Leni Robredo thru withdrawing in the presidential race.
Pacquiao will run for president in the coming May 9, 2022 election together with his runningmate Buhay partylist representative, Lito Atienza.
They will go against the tandem of; Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Doc Willie Ong, Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
In a recent interview, Atienza revealed that there were people from Robredo’s camp who told him that Pacquiao should back out from the presidential race to give way to Robredo, who’s now second in the pre-election surveys.
But according to Atienza, Pacquiao immediately rejected the proposal and said that he would rather lose than withdraw his candidacy.
“Naghahanap din sila ng parang re-shuffling eh. I tried delivering the message. Sabi ni Manny, ‘Matalo tayo kung matalo, pero ayoko namang manalo dahil sa negosasyon.’ That was an answer that I had to respect,” he said.
Pacquiao, on the other hand, vowed that he will not back out of the presidential race.
It can be recalled that the boxing superstar-turned-politician said that it was only the “Lord” who could make him stop in his presidential bid.
Robredo has yet to issue any statement regarding the report Pacquiao rejected his offer for “unity.”
