Comelec Commissioners Aimee Ferolino, Rowena Guanzon Got Conflicting Claims
COMELEC – Commissioner Aimee Ferolino broke her silence following the revelation and claims of Commissioner Rowena Guanzon.
The Commission on Elections has yet to release a resolution bearing its decision on the three (3) consolidated petitions seeking the disqualification of former Senator Bongbong Marcos from the presidential election this May.
However, way ahead of the release of the verdict, Commissioner Rowena Guanzon spoke and revealed that she voted to disqualify the standard-bearer of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas. According to the Commissioner, she believes that there is really moral turpitude on the tax convictions of Marcos Jr.
Guanzon also admitted her belief that there is political interference that’s why a resolution has yet to be released. According to her, they agreed that it will be released on January 17, 2022.
The ponente or the one who must write the resolution is Comelec Commissioner Aimee Ferolino. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, she claimed that there was no agreement among the members of the 1st Division regarding the deadline of the resolution.
In a letter to the poll body’s chairman, Sheriff Abas, Ferolino tagged the action of Guanzon as “appalling”. According to her, it is impossible to resolve the petitions before January 17 because of the volume. She claimed that the consolidated petitions were only raffled to her office last January 10 and the evidence was received last January 14.
According to Ferolino, Guanzon tried to convince her to have the same vote with her on the Marcos Jr. petitions. She takes her act of revealing her stand as a means to influence her vote.
Ferolino asked the Comelec to review the interview of Guanzon which named her as the ponente which may put her at risk.
