MMDA Officer Apprehends Motorist for Overtaking in Broken Lane, Netizens React
An MMDA officer appealed to the motorist he apprehended for overtaking in a broken lane, saying, “Kuya wag mo ipost ah”.
Kiel Rayman Jereza, a Facebook user, shared a video of an encounter between a motorist and an MMDA (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority) officer. The incident revolved around the apprehension of the motorist for allegedly overtaking in a broken lane.
The post immediately spread like wildfire on social media and garnered various reactions from the netizens.
In the video, Jereza recounted the events of his encounter with the MMDA officer, expressing confusion and frustration over the alleged violation. He questioned the officer’s authority to apprehend him for overtaking a broken lane along EDSA Southbound, asserting his understanding that overtaking is permissible in such lanes.
Jereza points out the importance of clear communication between enforcers and motorists, emphasizing the need for a proper explanation of traffic laws and regulations. He expressed his willingness to cooperate and comply with authorities, provided that they justify their actions based on accurate knowledge and understanding of traffic rules.
The encounter also raised questions regarding the interpretation and enforcement of traffic laws, particularly regarding overtaking in broken lanes. While solid lanes typically prohibit overtaking, broken lanes generally allow vehicles to pass on either side.
The MMDA officer even asked the motorist not to post the video.
