Policeman in Iloilo caught on CCTV camera stealing the motorcycle of a Barangay captain
CARNAPPING – A policeman was caught on camera stealing or carnapping a motorcycle owned by a Barangay chairman in Pototan, Iloilo.
The suspect was identified as Police Corporal Darryl Dumaraog, assigned to Regional Mobile Force Battalion in Region 6.
In the CCTV camera from the plaza, the suspect can be seen sitting on the parked motorcycle of Lopez Jaena Ward chairman Nicky Pescuela.
All of a sudden, Dumaraog started the engine and fled from the area, taking the motorcycle with him.
But because of the CCTV, he was identified and eventually got arrested.
According to the police, when the video of Dumaraog’s arrest was posted on social media, there were people who went to the police precinct who claimed that they were also victimized by the said police officer.
The suspect was imprisoned and facing charges of carnapping. Dumaraog has yet to give any statement on the matter.

This is not the first time that such an incident happened.
Earlier this year, a member of the Police Security and Protection Group was apprehended after using a stolen vehicle in Calamba, Laguna. The police officer, whose name was withheld, is an active policeman with the rank of Police Chief Master Sergeant.
The Philippine National Police – Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) has been reminding all police officers that the use or sale of stolen vehicles, or vehicles confiscated or recovered from an operation, is strictly prohibited.
