Videographer Takes Swipe After Whamos Cruz Uses Clip Without Permission

Videographer throws shade at Whamos Cruz

JAK SEVENTY-THREE – The videographer, whose clips were allegedly stolen by Whamos Cruz for the latter’s “Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas” entry, threw shade at the social media personality.

Initially, Whamos’s entry received positive feedback, but the mood shifted when Jak Seventy-Three highlighted the unauthorized use of his clips. Instead of apologizing, Whamos blamed his editor for the mistake and defended the use of the clips as a means to promote patriotism, claiming they were used appropriately and not in a negative context.

Jak responded to Whamos’ explanation by subtly calling him out: “Good morning sa lahat ng mga Editors, Travel Enthusiasts and passionate Content Creators, except sa isa dyan.” This remark sparked a reaction from Jak’s followers, who urged him to hold Whamos accountable.

One follower expressed anticipation for Whamos’s response to the situation, noting that many would be disappointed if legal action wasn’t pursued. Another follower commented cynically about the likelihood of Whamos removing the content since it probably had already generated profit.

Meanwhile, using someone else’s video without permission typically violates copyright laws, which protect creators’ exclusive rights to their work. Unauthorized use can lead to copyright infringement unless it falls under exceptions like fair use, which considers the use’s purpose, nature, amount used, and its market impact.

To avoid legal issues, it’s crucial to either obtain direct permission from the copyright holder, secure a proper license, or ensure the usage aligns with exceptions like educational purposes or news reporting. Copyright infringement can result in legal actions, financial penalties, and damage to one’s professional reputation. Always verify you have the right to use another person’s video to avoid these potential consequences.
