Imelda Papin Reacts to Rumors She Would Be Appointed as PCSO Chairperson

Will Imelda Papin be appointed as the new chairperson of the PCSO?

IMELDA PAPIN – The renowned singer and actress was surprised when a vlogger asked her if she would be appointed as the chairperson of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO). This query arose during the premiere night of her film “Imelda Papin: The Untold Story,” held at SM Mall of Asia on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

The PCSO banners displayed during the premiere night caught attention, with several government officials in attendance, whom Asia’s Sentimental Songstress acknowledged with gratitude.

Given Papin’s close ties to the Marcos family, such an appointment is plausible. However, the focus of her film “Imelda Papin: The Untold Story” centers more on her association with former President Ferdinand Marcos during their time in Hawaii.

Before proceeding with the film, Papin sought approval from former First Lady Imelda Romualdez-Marcos and received support from Senator Imee Marcos, Irene Marcos, and the entire Marcos family. She emphasized that she wouldn’t have pursued the project without their permission. Furthermore, President Bongbong Marcos expressed his support for the movie and expressed his desire to watch it during the premiere night, albeit Papin suggested a private viewing for safety reasons.

While the film is yet to have a playdate, it has been screened in various parts of the country for special screenings. Plans for a premiere night in Hawaii, where many loyalists of the former President reside, are also underway.

Originally titled “Loyalista: The Untold Story of Imelda Papin,” the film’s title was changed to remove “Loyalista” to avoid any political connotation. Papin clarified that the film isn’t political but rather depicts her life story, emphasizing themes of loyalty to God, oneself, family, and friends, particularly during challenging times.
