Here’s the reaction of Yexel Sebastian to the GMA News report accusing him of involvement in a ₱50 billion scam

YEXEL SEBASTIAN – The toy collector and former member of the all-male group Streetboys expressed his dismay over a report by GMA News that accused him of being involved in a ₱50 billion “junket investment scam,” with around 30 individuals reportedly filing syndicated estafa complaints against him at the Department of Justice (DOJ).

According to a segment on “24 Oras,” 30 individuals went to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to file syndicated estafa charges against Yexel regarding the alleged junket investment scam. In a Facebook post, Yexel insisted that he was also a victim and claimed that GMA did not seek his side of the story.

He challenged GMA News’ claim, stating that they never reached out to him for comment and that he had even sought their help on October 2, 2023, through one of their programs. Yexel provided screenshots and messages as evidence, alleging that GMA did not respond after he shared his problem. He questioned the credibility of the reported ₱50 billion scam and the involvement of 30 complainants.

Yexel expressed openness to interviews and reiterated that they did not deceive anyone, emphasizing that they were also put in a difficult situation and did not intend for any harm to happen to anyone.

Yexel extended sympathy to all investors, especially OFWs, and explained that he currently lacks the means to assist them from abroad. He clarified that they were not hiding and left the country because no case was filed against them.

Regarding their departure from the country, the Bureau of Immigration clarified that there was no departure order or derogatory record against the couple, allowing them to leave freely. The National Bureau of Investigation could issue a lookout bulletin against them if complaints are filed.
