INC – Senator Robin Padilla expressed his support for designating the founding anniversary of Iglesia ni Cristo as a special national non-working holiday.

Padilla, chair of the Committee on Constitutional Amendments and Revision of Codes, emphasized the significance of recognizing INC’s contributions to the nation. He highlighted INC’s commendable mission not only within the Christian community but also among Muslims.

“Nasaksihan ko po ang very godly mission ng INC hindi lang po sa Kristiyanong komunidad kundi maging sa mga Muslim,” the senator said.

Senate Bill No. 1546, also known as the “Commemoration of the Founding Anniversary of the Iglesia ni Cristo Act,” was authored by Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. Revilla asserted that as one of the largest religious organizations in the Philippines, it is appropriate to honor INC’s founding anniversary with a special holiday, especially considering the religious nature of many existing holidays.

Revilla cited Republic Act No. 9645, which recognizes INC’s role in guiding its members toward spiritual enlightenment and good citizenship. The proposal to declare July 27 as a special national non-working holiday stirred mixed reactions among netizens, with some suggesting political motivations behind Padilla’s support.

Meanwhile, Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) is a Christian religious organization that originated in the Philippines. Founded by Felix Y.
