Arrest order vs Quiboloy issued
PASTOR APOLLO QUIBOLOY – The arrest of the founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC)has been ordered due to his failure to appear in Senate hearings regarding complaints against him.
The Senate, led by Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, signed the order, citing Quiboloy’s repeated refusal to attend hearings and his delaying tactics through legal representation. The document states that Quiboloy is held in contempt of the Committee and the Senate for obstructing the inquiry. He is to be detained until he appears or purges himself of contempt.
Senator Risa Hontiveros, Chair of the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, thanked Zubiri and witnesses against Quiboloy. She emphasized the importance of holding Quiboloy accountable for disrespecting the Senate, particularly during Women’s Month, and expressed gratitude to witnesses for their courage in participating in the investigation. Hontiveros affirmed their commitment to pursuing justice to the end.
“Napapanahon po ang aksiyong ito para sa bawat babae ngayong buwan ng kababaihan at nagpapasalamat ako, daghang salamat, kay Senate President Migz Zubiri sa kanyang pagpirma sa arrest order kasi walang karapatan si Quiboloy na yurakan ang dignidad ng senado,” she said.
“Ang pambabastos niya sa institusyong ito ay hindi dapat palampasin.Higit na pasasalamat sa lahat ng mga testigo na naglakas-loob na makilahok sa dambuhalang labang ito. Kayo ang puso ng imbestigasyong ito at kasama ninyo kami sa senado hanggang dulo pa,” she added.
Quiboloy’s legal counsel, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, has not issued a statement regarding the Senate’s decision.
Meanwhile, Apollo Quiboloy is a religious leader and the founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name, Inc., commonly known as the Quiboloy movement or simply KJC. He claims to be the “Appointed Son of God” and the “Owner of the Universe” within his religious organization.
Quiboloy has gained significant attention in the Philippines and internationally due to his charismatic leadership and controversial teachings. He has been involved in various legal and political controversies, including allegations related to his organization’s activities, which have led to investigations and legal actions against him.
