VP Sara Duterte Ignored by First Lady Liza Marcos
LIZA MARCOS – The First Lady seemed to have ignored Vice President Sara Duterte during a send-off ceremony with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
The Dutertes and Marcoses are currently making rounds online due to the remarks they have been throwing at each other. This was after former President Rodrigo Duterte lashed out at PBBM during a prayer rally, calling the latter a “drug addict.”
But PBBM refuted the claims of Duterte, saying that his remarks might be an effect of his medication. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency also denied that the name of the president is on their “watchlist.”
Aside from the elder Duterte, Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte also criticized PBBM by calling for his resignation. According to him, Marcos Jr. should “resign” if he lacks love and aspirations for the nation.
The vice president issued an official statement regarding her brother’s remarks against the president. According to her, it can be presumed that her brother is coming from a place of brotherly love, coupled with the common sentiment that she does not deserve the “despicable treatment” that she has been receiving from some sectors within the circle of the President.
Nevertheless, she believes that the people’s vote is a bestowment of trust for her to work and serve exclusively for Filipinos. According to her, along with this trust comes the belief that she can withstand any attack, black propaganda, defamation, and other challenges thrown at her.
Meanwhile, a video in which the first lady ignored the vice president has gone viral, garnering mixed reactions from netizens. At the Villamor Airbase send-off ceremony for Marcos, the president approached Duterte and exchanged friendly greetings. However, the first lady ignored the vice president, proceeding to walk on the airport tarmac.
The first lady briefly returned to greet Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin but continued to ignore Duterte, who was standing next to the public official.
