Teacher receives “sweetest gift” on World Teachers Day

SALUYOT – A teacher took to social media to showcase the “sweetest gift” she received from one of her students on World Teachers Day 2023.

World Teachers’ Day is an international observance celebrated annually on October 5th, dedicated to honoring and appreciating the contributions of teachers and educators to society. It provides an opportunity to acknowledge the crucial role that teachers play in shaping the future by imparting knowledge, skills, and values to students.

Established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1994, World Teachers’ Day aims to recognize the importance of teachers and promote awareness of education’s essential role in sustainable development. It also addresses global issues and challenges facing educators, such as teacher shortages, inadequate resources, and the need for professional development.

On this day, many countries organize events, ceremonies, and activities to honor teachers. Students, parents, and communities often express gratitude and support for educators by giving them gifts, cards, or tokens of appreciation. Educational institutions may arrange special programs, workshops, or seminars to celebrate the occasion and raise awareness about the significance of quality education and well-trained teachers.

World Teachers’ Day serves as a reminder of the valuable impact teachers have on the lives of students and society at large, emphasizing the importance of investing in education and supporting educators in their vital role.

In line with this, a teacher turned to social media to showcase the “sweetest gift” she received from one of her students.

On Facebook, teacher Luisa Casuga Conmigo shared the heartfelt appreciation she received from her student. According to her, her student gave her a bundle of saluyot, known as “jute mallow” or simply “jute” in English.

Here’s the post:

“The sweetest gift I recieved this World Teachers Day 2023🥰🥰🥰 thank you Jerick 💖

Teacher Luisa: Alam mo anak Jerick… meron man o wala kayong maibibigay sa akin ngayon Teachers Day . You are true and humble and you care for me. 🧡
