Sen. Risa Hontiveros Reminisces Time as Co-anchor on GMA News in the 1990s

Did you know that Risa Hontiveros was once an anchor on GMA News?

RISA HONTIVEROS – After paying tribute to the late veteran journalist Mike Enriquez, the senator reminisced about her experience as a co-anchor on GMA Network News in the 1990s.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, September 7, Hontiveros shared some photos from the days when she served as a journalist. “#TBT Noong co-anchor ako sa GMA Network News noong 90s! #90slook (emoji),” Hontiveros said in the post.

Recently, a resolution was filed in the Senate to honor and pay tribute to Enriquez, who passed away on August 29, 2023, at the age of 71. During the Senate plenary session on Wednesday, September 6, the senator also revisited her own experience when she worked alongside Enriquez.

Meanwhile, Miguel Castro “Mike” Enriquez’s career in the entertainment industry began when he became a radio broadcaster in 1969. In 1995, he became a TV anchor for GMA Network, Inc. He also served as the Consultant for radio operations at GMA Network, the president of the network’s regional and radio subsidiary RGMA Network Inc., and the Station Manager of Super Radyo DZBB 594 AM.

On the other hand, Ana Theresia Navarro Hontiveros-Baraquel, known as Risa Hontiveros, is a prominent Filipino politician, community leader, and journalist. She has served as a senator in the Philippines since 2016 and was previously a party-list representative for Akbayan from 2004 to 2010.
