Rendon Labador Criticizes Coach Chot Reyes After Gilas Pilipinas’ Loss

Rendon Labador throws shade at Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes following the loss of Gilas Pilipinas

RENDON LABADOR – The motivational speaker took to social media wherein he criticized Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes following the loss of Gilas Pilipinas.

Gilas Pilipinas faced off against the Dominican Republic in the 2023 FIBA World Cup on August 25 at the Philippine Arena. The game set a new FIBA attendance record with 38,115 spectators. However, the Philippine men’s national basketball team fell short with a score of 87-81.

Despite putting up a strong fight in the first three quarters, Gilas’ chances were hampered when their key player, Jordan Clarkson, was disqualified due to fouls. Although leading initially, Gilas struggled against the 23rd-ranked Dominicans.

In the third quarter, the Philippines continued to compete well, but the Dominicans gained the upper hand in the final period. With Clarkson out, Gilas made errors and couldn’t catch up. Karl Anthony-Towns led the Dominicans with 26 points, while Clarkson scored 28 before fouling out. The Philippines will face Angola this Sunday.

After the loss, basketball fans and netizens blamed coach Chot Reyes for Gilas Pilipinas’ defeat. Among the critics is motivational speaker Rendon Labador.

On Facebook, Labador expressed interest in replacing Chot Reyes as the head coach of the Philippines men’s national basketball team. He stated: “Gusto kong palitan ang coach! Hindi talaga tayo mananalo kapag tanga yung coach natin. Bilang boses ng bayan at isang Pilipino din, may karapatan akong mag desisyon kung ano ang ikabubuti nating lahat. Pahinga ka na coach, pwede ka naman taga abot ng tubig muna. Gusto din kasi namin makaranas ng panalo. Maraming salamat sa pag resign #stayMotivated”
