Potato Corner, a global food franchise renowned for its flavored French fries, has attracted significant attention online due to their ala “beauty queen” job requirements at one of its branches (Ventura Mall). The qualifications state that applicants need to have a ‘good set of teeth’ and maintain a proportionate weight-to-height ratio. This has sparked reactions from netizens who voiced their frustration with the franchise’s management.
In response to the backlash, Potato Corner issued an official statement, emphasizing that they don’t support “discriminatory hiring.” Thus, they are committed to “providing equal opportunities for all, and giving fair recognition and reward to effort, attitude, potential, and creating positive outcomes.”
While the issue continues to be debated, beauty queen Celeste Cortesi shared a photo of herself at a Potato Corner stall, captioning it: “First day sa work”.
