The Philippine government has designated suspended congressman Arnie Teves Jr. as a “terrorist”.

ARNIE TEVES JR. – The Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC) has designated the suspended congressman as a “terrorist”.

Former Negros Oriental governor Pryde Henry Teves and alleged co-mastermind Marvin H. Miranda are also designated as “terrorists” along with the suspended Negros Oriental Third District representative.

Also tagged by the Anti-Terrorism Council as among those involved in the so-called “Teves Terrorist Group” were Nigel Electona, Rogelio Antipolo, Tomasino Aledro, Rommel Pattaguan, Hannah Mae Oray, Winrich Isturis, Dahniel Lora, John Louie Gonyon, Eulogio Gonyon Jr., and Jomarie Catubay.

It can be recalled that former Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo was killed along with 9 other people last March 4.

According to ATC Resolution No. 43 approved on July 26, 2023 and disclosed on August 1, the Anti-Terrorism Council has designated Teves Jr. as a “terrorist” for allegedly masterminding the assassination of former Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo.

The Anti-Terrorism Council also said in the resolution that Teves Jr. was the alleged leader and mastermind of the group, while his brother and Nigel Electona “provided material support.”

Investigation also reveals that Hannah Mae Sumero Oray handles the operational funds for the killings while Marvin H. Miranda acts as organizer and recruiter of personnel for specific terrorist attacks,” the ATC said.

In addition, the Anti-Terrorism Council said in a statement that the designations were formalized following a “thorough examination” of “compelling evidence and factual incidents”.

Teves Jr. has been out of the Philippines since February and has refused to return to the country due to purported threats to his life. He also remains suspended because of his continued absence from his duties at the House of Representatives.
