Joseph Morong, Suzette Doctolero deny food stubs at GMA Gala

GMA GALA NIGHT – Broadcast journalist Joseph Morong and esteemed writer Suzzette Doctolero denied allegations that food stubs were distributed during the event.

It was on July 22, 2023, when the GMA Gala 2023 was held. The event served as a shining platform to honor and celebrate GMA-7’s exceptional talents. While the glamorous event was successful, there were rumors swirling on social media regarding the event. According to some naysayers, food stubs were given to attendees of the event.

It can be recalled that during the first GMA Gala Night, Tim Yap took to social media, posting a snap of people allegedly lining up to get their food stubs. Because of the issue, the event faced massive criticism.

Now that the GMA Gala has taken place again, the issue was brought up once more. Some netizens teased the organizing committee of the GMA Gala, claiming that a food stub was needed to eat at the event. This allegation was vehemently denied by renowned figures from GMA.

On Twitter, Suzzette Doctolero denied that there was a distribution of food stubs. According to her, what was given were assignment tickets so that guests know where they will be seated.

“Walang food stub. (emoji). Table assignmemt ticket yun. Para malaman ng guest kung saan ang mesa niya. Libo po yata ang umattend kasi. The 5-course meal was served at the table. (emoji) Good pm everyoneeeee! (Mga ka X na yata ang tawagan natin. Papalitan na kasi ni Musk ang ibon ng X),” she noted.

On the other hand, Joseph Morong noted: “FACT: What meal stub? That’s for seat numbers for different departments LOL.”

Meanwhile, the first edition of the GMA Gala that happened in July 2022 also served as a fundraising event for the benefit of the GMA Kapuso Foundation. All donations and pledges of support went towards the construction of a new school building for Magallanes Elementary School in Limasawa Island, Southern Leyte.
