Ruffa, whose real name is Sharmaine Ruffa Rama Gutierrez-Lozada, is a versatile personality in the entertainment industry, excelling as a model, beauty queen, host, and actress. Ruffa’s journey began in the 1980s when she started acting as a teenager under BMG Films. She gained prominence in the early 1990s when she became part of German Moreno’s popular variety show, That’s Entertainment. However, her career took a significant turn when she ventured into the world of beauty pageants in 1993.
Ruffa’s notable accomplishments in beauty pageants include winning the title of Look of the Year – Philippines in 1992, being crowned Binibining Pilipinas World 1993, and achieving the Second Runner-up position at the prestigious Miss World 1993 competition, held in Sun City, South Africa. Despite not clinching the top spot, Ruffa’s remarkable performance garnered admiration and recognition on an international level.
On a personal note, Ruffa is the only daughter of actor Eddie Gutierrez and talent manager Annabelle Rama. She was previously married to Yilmaz Bektas, a Turkish businessman, with whom she has two daughters.
