Coconut Husk Turned Into a Helmet by Popsicle and Ice Drop Vendor in Cotabato

Coconut husk turned into a helmet

COTABATO – A popsicle and ice drop vendor in Kidapawan showcased his creativity by using a coconut husk as a helmet while selling his products on a bicycle.

A helmet is a protective gear worn on the head to prevent injuries. It absorbs impact, distributes force, and safeguards the skull and brain. Helmets are used in various activities like sports, construction, cycling, motorcycling, and military operations.

They are made of durable materials like hard plastics, fiberglass, or metal. Helmets often have padding for comfort and shock absorption. Their design depends on the intended use. Sports helmets may have face shields, chin straps, and ventilation, while motorcycle helmets provide more coverage and face and jaw protection.

Helmets reduce the risk of head injuries and offer protection in situations involving impacts, falls, or collisions. They minimize head trauma, prevent skull fractures, and lower the chance of traumatic brain injuries.

Choosing a properly fitting helmet that meets safety standards is crucial. Regular inspection and maintenance are necessary to ensure effectiveness and identify damage or wear that may compromise protection.

Meanwhile, a popsicle and ice drop vendor in Kidapawan, Cotabato showcased his creativity by using a coconut husk as a helmet while selling his products on a bicycle. Romeo Intes, the vendor, shared that he is often on the road due to his vending activities.

He made the helmet after the implementation of the “no helmet, no travel policy” for motorcyclists and their riders. Even though he was riding a bicycle, Intes still decided to wear a helmet as a protective measure for his head and to shield himself from the heat.
