Dried fish “fried” under the heat of the sun

COOKING WITH THE SUN – A male netizen shared on social media that he was allegedly able to fry some dried fish with the heat of the sun.

As the Philippines enters the warm and dry season, temperatures are expected to increase, and with that comes risks associated with hot and sunny days. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has declared the start of the warm and dry season, which may last until May.

PAGASA has also upgraded its monitoring to an El Niño Watch, indicating that the El Niño phenomenon, characterized by extreme heat and prolonged dry spells, may develop in the next six months. Despite the dangers of hot weather, many Filipinos, as well as tourists, flock to popular beaches and other leisure destinations to beat the heat.

However, there are risks to watch out for, including heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, sunburn, rash, and potentially fatal heatstroke. Infants, children, and older adults are at higher risk of experiencing heat-related illnesses.

To avoid heatstroke and other heat illnesses, the Department of Health (DOH) recommends limiting time spent outdoors, drinking plenty of water, avoiding tea, coffee, soda, and alcohol, scheduling heavy-duty activities for cooler times of day, wearing lightweight and light-colored clothing, wearing sunscreen, avoiding hot and heavy meals, and talking to a healthcare provider about extra precautions to protect against heatstroke if one has a chronic condition. In addition to hurting individuals, dry spells during the El Niño season hurt the economy, damaging crops and causing losses in the billions of pesos.

Speaking of which, a netizen took to social media wherein he showed a video of him cooking some dried fish under the heat of the sun. Watch the video below:

The video has gone viral, garnering mixed reactions from the netizens. Although he did not reveal the truth, some netizens were able to figure out that he pre-heat the frying pan before cooking the dried fish.
