Here’s why Gigi de Lana joined Tawag ng Tanghalan
GIGI DE LANA – The singer revealed the reason behind why she joined Tawag ng Tanghalan on It’s Showtime.
Gigi, whose real name is Mary Gidget Dela Llana, is a singer-actress. She rose to fame when she became part of It’s Showtime singing competition, Tawag ng Tanghalan. Apparently, she did not clinch the grand finals after being eliminated during the semifinals.
Gigi is part of the band called Gigi Vibes Band composed of Jon Cruz, LA Arquero, Harvy Jake Manalo, and Romeo Pastre Marquez. Her group regularly holds jamming sessions, live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube as well as concerts locally and abroad.
In the media conference of her G Rules concert, the 27-year-old singer revealed the reason why she joined “Tawag Ng Tanghalan (TNT)” in 2016.
According to her, she encouraged herself to join the singing contest because she was sad at the time. Gigi said that aside from TNT, she also auditioned to other singing contests before.
“Gusto ko lang noon kaya ako sumali sa ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ ay makabayad ng utang,” she said. At the time, she’s already part of the band, Gigi Vibes and her co-bandmates supported her decision to join the “Tawag ng Tanghalan” on It’s Showtime.
“Yes po. Para ano, matulungan ang mom ko. Kasi that time, ang dami talaga naming utang para mabayaran. Kasi, siyempre, hindi naman po ako laking mayaman. Kami lang ni Mama talaga yung nagwo-work together. Pati po yung ninang ko.”
Meanwhile, the G Rules concert is presented by ABS-CBN Events at Solaire Resort Entertainment City.
